Pixar's Dug inspired fanart homage

I just went and saw Pixar's UP, and wow!
I thought after Wall-E it would be a hard follow up so i went in prepped for disappointment.
How i could have ever doubted the brilliance of Pixar is beyond me. I'm hesitant to make comparison's to Wall-E as i am still riding on the euphoria of UP, but i must say - WOW!
Pixar have shown yet again that they are truly in a league of their own when it comes to character and storytelling.
And as a dog fan I was in heaven. I think Dug may be the c[IMG][/IMG]utest animated dog character i have ever seen on film. Simply brilliant and utterly hilarious.
If you get the chance go and see this film immediately. I saw it in 3d which was fantastic but i'd have to say the story and characters are that good that without the 3d this is simply brilliant.
Needless to say i came home inspired and scribbled up this Dug-inspired sketch. I did mine a little younger and thinner than the movie character.
Coloring a little darker too.

Have just finished working on a book cover job. The books title is "How to become a Superhero" and its written by Sage Michael. Check it out online at http://www.superheropress.com/

Did quite a few rough layouts before we were happy with the final product, but i think the final cover scrubbed up ok.

Wanted to keep it rough and concept looking, whilst maintaining a sort of patchwork cartoony, wacky feel.

Inspired by the likes of Spy vs Spy and Itchy and Scratchy, Rabit versus Bear is a bit of silent humour (well i like to think so) focusing on the destructive battles of these two lil characters. I wanted to go for something distinctly stylistic and try and achieve something that would make you smirk rather than bust a gut laughing.
I have actually dedicated a blog to it where i post the latest installments and hopefully down the track focus on all things Rabbit and Bear like.
I am loving this game and it's inspiring me to draw more of these characters. I love the Pratchett-esque quality of this game and how it doesn't take itself too seriously.
None of the characters are too pretty. In fact some are downright ugly! Its great. I love the idea of breaking the pretty stereotype.
Trying to keep these sketchs fast and loose. Each probably takes maybe 30 minutes.
